Maybe Sony tries to hold on to Sifu so they can have exclusive sequels without making too much of a splash.
Also worth noting that Sony is likely accelerating these relationships in response to the MS acquisitions. One notable difference is that Sifu is not published by Sony, whereas many of the others mentioned were. However, they did confirm that the exclusivity is timed and although we don’t know the exact window yet, we can assume it lasts from 6 months to a full year. If Sloclap can prove to be consistently successful, I’m expecting their future lineup to be timed and/or full console exclusives, potentially culminating in an acquisition, à la Housemarque, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, etc. SIFU’s developers Sloclap have stated that they don’t have any plans for an Xbox port of the game at the time and are only focused on the PlayStation and PC versions of the game. They might want to deliver every version ASAP. Sifu could be their breakout title though. It didn’t have the best reception, so the Xbox port might not have been given a high priority. It took ~16 months for Absolver (previous and only other game made by Sloclap) to make its way to Xbox after the timed console exclusivity, so it was probably a 12-15 month deal with Sony. There’s nothing officially announced other than that it is a timed console exclusive, so everything else is speculation.
